Situated in the beautiful Lorton Valley, surrounded by the local fells. The barn has a sitting room, dining area and kitchen upstairs and a bedroom ,bathroom, hall and utility room down stairs.

The sitting room has French doors and small balcony looking onto a lovely  cottage garden. Every day it is visited by many wild birds such as blue tits, long tail tits, nuthatches, green finches, yellow hammers, gold finches and many more plus my two house chickens.

Ospreys are nesting by Bassenthwaite lake with various places to observe them. Another visitor is a red squirrel and a pheasant.

The area is very peaceful – a great place to relax. There are mountains beyond the garden and the lakes are close by. The scenery is outstanding and there are many activities to enjoy such as climbing, walking, fishing, tennis and sailing etc. all within easy reach.

Keswick, Cockermouth, Ambleside, Grassmere, and Windermere are all worth a visit too. There is a village shop, church, The Wheatsheaf Inn (good food and plenty of it), all in Lorton village. The Kirkstile Inn, Loweswater, The Fish Buttermere, The Pheasant Inn Bassenthwaite, The Bitter End Pub, Chinese, Indian the Quince and Medler (vegetarian) all in Cockermouth and Morrels, Bar26 and many more in Keswick.

There is a very good Theatre with new restaurant in Keswick which has a comprehensive programme all year round. It is situated by the edge of Derwent Water lake. And agricultural shows feature in the area during the summer.

The Barn has a very comfortable king size bed with all linen and towels provided. Constant hot water shower and bath. The kitchen is fully equipped with electric oven plus microwave. Downstairs there is a washing machine and small freezer in the utility room. The Bedroom has its own access via a small terrace to the garden.

Wi-fi is available, mobile phone reception is limited – you may need to go outside to get reception.

There is a circular Bus service to and from Keswick via Whinlatter, Lorton, Buttermere and Borrowdale.
